Care for and clean leather bags properly - smooth leather and suede

The care of our two types of bags, smooth leather and suede, fundamentally has some differences.

Cleaning the smooth leather bag:

Smooth leather is quite easy to clean as stains and dirt can be easily wiped off with a little water.

1. Clean out your bag and remove dust and dirt from the lining.
2. If necessary, wipe the inner lining with a damp cloth.
3. You can then wipe the bag with a damp cloth with a little gentle dishwashing liquid.
4. Then dry the surface with a dry cloth.
5. Apply leather conditioner with a soft cloth. Alternatively, you can also use a few drops of baby oil.

Tip: It's best to waterproof your handbag twice a year.

Cleaning the suede bag:

Cleaning suede, on the other hand, should be done carefully and water is best avoided.
Therefore, waterproof your suede bag regularly to protect it from unsightly stains.

1. Clean out your bag and remove dust and dirt from the lining.
2. If necessary, wipe the inner lining with a damp cloth.
3 . You can then brush off any coarse protection on the leather with a suede brush and then wipe it off with a dry cloth.

Depending on the type of stain, you will have to proceed differently when cleaning:

Water stains: Mix distilled water and a little vinegar essence and drizzle it on your stain. Work the mixture in carefully and immediately wipe off any excess liquid with a dry cloth. Then let your bag dry slowly.

Grease stains: Spread some cornstarch or dry shampoo on the stain and let it work for about an hour. You can then brush the powder off again.

Tip: It's best to try to remove new stains as quickly as possible.
